The Syro-Malabar Church is the second largest Church among the Eastern Catholic Churches. St. Thomas the Apostle founded the Syro-Malabar Church, otherwise called the Church of St. Thomas Christians, in South India. The present Kerala State is the home of this Church. For centuries, St. Thomas Christians lived in the kingdoms of Travancore and Cochin.
Our mission as a community is: “Carrying the flame of Faith and Tradition in life and worship across the world”. Syro-Malabar Catholic Community of Salt Lake City was established to preserve the faith and liturgical tradition of the Syro-Malabar Catholics living in the Wasatch front, this community is part of St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic diocese of Chicago.
The Kerala Catholics in Salt Lake City area have been celebrating Holy Masses in Malayalam in the Syro-Malabar Rite every month. Catechism is being held from KinderGarden to Grade 12 every Sunday online.
The Holy Qurbana, which refers to the Holy Eucharist, is the divine liturgy of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church.
